Case Study for Highways

PROJECT CASE STUDY - Highways

Highways England had a very detailed requirement to build in a very short timescale for a new road system set to improve commuter times across former industrial landscapes for the Lower Thames Crossing. Our challenge was to provide a realistic glimpse into a new Thames tunnel and integrated road system set in around the year 2035 and include simulations of environmental impact and noise pollution on the public. It also needed to highlight improved commuter times and induction charging to prepare the UK for population and infrastructure growth to combat congestion and improve travel times.

This delivery was specifically targeting the consultation phase of the development and required a number of different platforms to perfectly highlight the salient points to the public and gain relevant feedback. Initially starting with a simple animated fly-through, with details of the full development plan, this then progressed to emerging technology solutions to assist in the collation of public feedback.

In a 2 week period the CGI Clip was launched with over 40,000 views and an incredible amount of valued feedback. From super realistic vehicle lighting and dynamics to summer drenched trees and fields with heat haze and glowing warmth to add a sense of British Summer this all added to the positivity of the vision as well as realistic traffic simulations and volumes for an accurate depiction of the scheme.
